Hello Washington D.C.-area Dartmouth alumnae!
We are excited to announce the launch of a Women of Dartmouth community in the Washington metropolitan area. During the past two years, similar communities have begun in Boston, New York, San Francisco, and London, drawing hundreds of participants—including many not previously involved in alumni activities or who have not attended an event in a long time.
These communities have offered Dartmouth women an opportunity to meet and connect through different types of programming: outdoor activities and outings, wine tastings, book clubs, panels and gatherings featuring alumnae and guest speakers. The topics covered have included career development, mentoring, giving back, and the professional and personal choices that women make throughout their lives and careers. Small dinner groups also meet regularly, bringing women together for informal socializing across class years.
Many of us already have an informal network of Dartmouth women friends, but with more than 1,000 Dartmouth women in the Washington metro region this is a wonderful opportunity to broaden our connections in new ways. We invite you to share your ideas about any activities you would enjoy participating in with other Dartmouth women, and welcome your involvement in planning them. We look forward to hearing from you and connecting with you. The best ways to get in touch with us are to email us and to connect with us on Facebook.

Sunday October 22, 4 PM -- SAVE THE DATE -- Meet a Playwright & See a Children's Play at Imagination Stage
Women of Dartmouth DC is proud to sponsor a family-friendly event at Imagination Stage, one of our nation’s leading children’s theater venues. All alumni and friends are welcome.
Playwright Miriam Gonzales is opening the 2017-2018 season with her award-winning play, “The Smartest Girl in the World,” and will be available for a special moderated Q&A with children of Dartmouth families attending the show, to answer questions about her life as a playwright, the play, and the creative process in general. This is a rare and enriching opportunity that will be rewarding for the whole family. More details will be coming later in the summer about how to sign up. Any questions? Contact Saleela Khanum Salahuddin '02.
ALSO IN THE WORKS:
Information events for alumnae to share their expertise in a particular field, skill, hobby, etc. Organized by Alessandra Necamp '09. More information to follow.
Alumnae have expressed interest in a book club and occasional events with authors or other literary themes. Please contact Meredith Benedict or Meg Sommerfeld if you'd like to start a Women of Dartmouth DC Book Club or plan author/book-related events. This can start small -- perhaps we'd aim for just one book club meeting in 2017.
